Habimana Vedaste
I met Habimana Vedaste in the Rukiri neighborhood, pushing his matabaro bicycle loaded with five crates of Fanta. He carries these from wholesalers to neighborhood retailers, making sure the small shops in the area are stocked and able to serve their customers.
Habimana told me he has been doing this work for eight years, supporting his wife and two children. Each ride is more than just a job, it is a daily effort to provide for his family, a testament to his dedication and resilience.
This painting captures that quiet strength, highlighting the perseverance of those who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep communities supplied.
