About This Artwork
While visiting Lac Milayi, I watched people deeply connected to the water, each movement filled with rhythm and purpose. Though I couldn’t speak with them, their silent stories inspired me to paint the harmony between humans, nature, and survival.
Each piece is painted with acrylic on canvas. I begin with a smooth, solid background color that sets the mood of the scene, then build up a small, realistic image in fine detail. Soft shadows often cast to one side give life and depth to the figures, while the open space above allows the story to breathe and focus the viewer’s attention on the subject.

Story Behind
Inspired by the daily life around Lac Milayi in Bugesera District, this series captures men working on traditional boats fishing, transporting food, and crossing the calm water. Their quiet determination reflects the strength and dignity found in ordinary work
